Zapfile interface — simple, fast, secure file transfer

Getting Started

How do I send a file?
It's super simple: 1. Go to zapfile.ai 2. Select your file(s) or folder 3. Click to generate transfer link 4. Share the link with your recipient 5. They click the link and download directly from encrypted cloud storage
Do I need to create an account?
No. Zapfile works completely without any signup, registration, or email address. Just open the site and start transferring.
Does it work on mobile devices?
Yes! Zapfile works on any device with a modern browser — phones, tablets, laptops, desktops. You can transfer files between any combination of devices (Android to iPhone, Windows to Mac, etc.).
What browsers are supported?
Zapfile works on all modern browsers: Chrome/Edge (version 80+), Firefox (version 75+), Safari (version 14+), Opera (version 67+), and mobile browsers (Chrome, Safari, Samsung Internet).

Privacy & Security

Are my files stored on your servers?
No, never. Files are transferred through encrypted cloud storage and are deleted immediately after download. Files never persist on our servers. Our servers only handle transfer coordination — they never process or store file contents.
Is the transfer encrypted?
Yes! All transfers use TLS 1.3 encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest during the brief storage window. This provides strong security for your data during transfer.
Can Zapfile employees see my files?
No. Since files are deleted immediately after download and our servers only handle coordination, we have no way to see what you're sharing. Files are never stored permanently.
What data do you collect?
We collect minimal analytics to improve the service (transfer success rates, browser types). We don't track individual users or see file contents. We use self-hosted analytics — no Google Analytics or third-party trackers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Is Zapfile safe for sensitive files?
Yes. Files are encrypted during transfer and storage, then deleted immediately after download. This makes Zapfile suitable for confidential documents, personal files, and other sensitive content. For extremely sensitive files, consider using E2E encrypted alternatives.

File Transfers

What's the maximum file size?
There is no file size limit! Since we don't store files permanently, you can transfer files of any size. The only limit is your connection stability and the recipient's download speed.
How fast is the transfer?
Transfers happen at full network speed — no server bottlenecks. Actual speed depends on both devices' upload/download speeds and internet connection quality. Typical speeds range from 50-500 Mbps depending on your network.
Can I send multiple files at once?
Yes. You can select multiple files or entire folders. They'll all be transferred together through the same link.
What file types are supported?
All file types. Photos, videos, documents, archives, software — if it's a digital file, Zapfile can transfer it. No restrictions, no compression, no conversion.
What happens if the connection drops during transfer?
Currently, you'll need to start over. We're working on resume functionality so you can pick up where you left off if the connection drops.
How long does the transfer link stay active?
Transfer links expire after the recipient completes the download. Files are deleted immediately after download — there's no waiting period. If the download doesn't complete, files are automatically cleaned up.

Troubleshooting

The transfer isn't starting. What do I do?
Try these steps: • Make sure both devices are connected to the internet • Refresh the page and generate a new transfer link • Check if you're behind a strict firewall or VPN • Try a different browser • If on a corporate network, it might block file transfers
The transfer link doesn't work. Why?
Common reasons: • The sender might have closed the page • The file might have been deleted after download • Try generating a new transfer link • Make sure both devices are online
Does it work behind a firewall?
Usually yes, but some strict corporate or school firewalls might block certain transfer types. If that's the case, try using a personal device on a different network.
Transfer is slow. How can I speed it up?
Transfer speed depends on your internet connection. Tips: • Use a wired connection instead of WiFi • Close other bandwidth-intensive applications • Ensure both sender and recipient have good internet speeds

Pricing & Limits

How much does Zapfile cost?
Zapfile is completely free. No hidden costs, no premium tiers, no file size limits, no transfer limits. Unlimited transfers, always.
Will it stay free?
Yes. Our costs are minimal since we don't store files permanently. The free version will always exist. If we add optional premium features in the future, the core service will remain free.
How many files can I transfer per day?
There's no limit. Transfer as many files as you want, as often as you want.
Are there any hidden fees?
No hidden fees. Zapfile is free to use with no restrictions or surprises.

Features & Future Plans

Can I password-protect my transfers?
Not yet, but it's on our roadmap. For now, the unique transfer link acts as a basic password — only someone with the link can access the transfer.
Will you add resume functionality?
Yes! This is our top priority. We're working on letting you resume interrupted transfers without starting over.
Can I see my transfer history?
Not currently. We're planning to add a local transfer history stored only on your device.
Is there an API?
Not yet, but we're considering it. If you're interested in integrating Zapfile into your app or service, contact us at hello@zapfile.ai.
What features are you working on next?
We're currently working on: • Resume functionality for interrupted transfers • Transfer progress improvements • Better mobile experience • Additional security features
